Become a Better Builder

<< UNDER CONSTRUCTION >>
This is not an article about a PC game, I just shamelessly borrowed their image because it’s pretty sweet. This a post where I will document little notes for me to remember in terms of building PCs.
PLEASE, please, please don’t come here to learn.
You will learn nothing.
I have been building PCs for a long time and will not be noting anything in the form of steps or tutorials.
This is mainly a place for me to save unclear advice and opinions about very specific things related to PC building.
You’ve been warned.
01. QUESTION: How Much Thermal Paste Do I Need to Apply?
ANSWER: A pea sized amount.
Whether you apply too much or too little will have a negligible difference on the temps (They’ll be within 1-2 degrees of each other.)
The biggest factor will be CLEAN UP, if you are removing a CPU from the socket and you use too much thermal compound it will likely come out over the edges of the chip and can potentially drip onto the board or even worse, into the pins on the CPU socket.
A small “pea size” amount should do the trick. But even using a bit too much will self correct. The excess compound will be forced out by the cooler’s mounting tension, ensuring good IHS coverage.

02. QUESTION: What is an IHS?
ANSWER: IHS stands for integrated heat spreader.
